battery box for the 1966 Serenissima LeMans Spyder - I was commissioned by Mike Kleeves of Automotive Metal Shaping to create an original battery box for this one of a kind car. I modeled the box in CAD and copied the original camera case texture that would have been on the original box. Modern battery internals were placed inside the 3D printed box and then the connections run through the top of the box to cast lead terminals that I created. Count Giovanni Volpi of Venice founded Serenissima in 1961. Following the “Palace Revolt”, in which many employees left Ferrari, Volpi enlisted the expertise of Alberto Massimino to build a prototype to compete at LeMans. The resultant car utilized the 308V engine, and was graced with coachwork by Fantuzzi. The car ran LeMans in 1966, but did not finish. It was subsequently stored at Volpi’s castle in Venice until 2020. AMS was tasked with preservation and have retained all its original components and finishes, including paint and interior.
